Every season of the year, RAPRD offers a variety of events that you or your children can enroll in: gymnastics, educational programs, dance, softball, sports clinics, and much more. You’ll find that there’s plenty going on around town that you can enjoy. 

 
 

TODDLER PROGRAMS (0-5 yrs)

Toddler Enrichment

 

Toddler Time | Ages 2-4 yrs | #9613

A great sensory experience for your toddler. We will use fun games, arts and crafts in this class to focus on developing those fine motor skills for your little one.


Friends & Family Playtime | Crawling to 8 yrs | 12:00-3:00pm | M-F

This is a time set aside just for children crawling through preschool to come and play to their heart's content. We have foam blocks, balls, tumbling mats, mini hoops and soccer balls for your little one to come and enjoy. This is a great time for them to socialize and meet other little ones. Parents are FREE with a paid child admission ($2.00 per child). Drop in with your toddler for play or sign up for a toddler class where you and your toddler can learn and bond. Parent participation or remaining on-site is required for all toddler classes.

Crazy About Art | Grades K-5th | #3415

Sports, Gymnastics, & Dance

Little Sports Stars| Ages 3-5 yrs | #3211

Come and learn the basics in sports. We cover the joys of learning how to play the most popular youth sports. FUN is our #1 goal! Correction: Little Sports Stars has 5 sessions beginning January 9th. The time for these sessions was listed in the activity guide as 10:00-10:30am. The correct time for this class is 10:30-11:00am. Preschool Gymnastics/Tiny Stars | Ages 3-5 yrs | #3612

This is a fun introduction to gymnastics for 3-5 years old. Come play and make friends on balance beams, trampolines, bars and fun obstacle courses. This class is perfect for learning how to follow direction, getting strong and having lots of fun! Sessions available on Monday & Wednesday and Tuesday & Thursday. You can sign up for one day a week or two days a week. 

Princess Dance | Ages 3-5 yrs | #3612

This fun pre-K introduction to movement teaches dance through basic ballet movements. Music, scarves and dramatic play. Sessions are M/W.  You can sign up for one day a week or two days a week. 

Ninja Kids | Ages 5-8 yrs | #9516

Ninja Kids is specifically designed around building a child's self confidence through muscle development and body awareness. Kids learn bully prevention and defense. This class is a mixture of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, gymnastics and Parkour. This class is fast paced so make sure your child brings a water bottle. We will have 5 sessions on Monday & Wednesday and 5 sessions on Tuesday & Thursday.

Tykes Soccer League | Grades Pre-K - 1st

Tykes soccer is all about having fun and learning a new sport for our youngest soccer stars. With a 6-week season, players will practice once a week and will have one game day, weather permitting, each Saturday at the High Desert Sports Complex. A weekly team practice time & locations will depend on the volunteer coach. Teams may practice twice a week. RAPRD will provide player jerseys. Parents are responsible for providing shorts, shin guards, socks and a size-3 soccer ball.

Registration deadline is Tuesday, February 11, 2020.

This class will be offered two times a month on Tuesday evening, 4:00-6:00pm with a new painting each week. Discounted fee given when you bring a friend.

Fabulous Foods | Grades 1st-3rd | #3557

Measure, mix, pour and eat. Each session is 3 weeks in length; the 1st week make a delicious snack, the 2nd week a tasty entree and the 3rd week make a great desert. Learn how to follow a recipe and get creative with your food.

Beginning Guitar Lessons | Grades 6th-12th | #6371

Learn the fundamentals of acoustic guitar playing and amaze yourself as you strum and pick your way through some groovy tunes. The Chad Campbell Music Studio is well equipped to show you how. Horseback Riding, DoJo, Fencing & Gymnastics

Tumbling & Tricking | Ages 6-16 yrs | #3612

This class is perfect for anyone who likes flipping, twisting and jumping. Super for cheer tumblers as well. Instructors use air tracks, springboards and trampolines to teach air sense and safe landings, as well as foam pits for training new skills. Three sessions on Monday & Wednesday. You can sign up for one day a week or two days a week. 

 

Homeschooled PE Class | Ages 6-12 yrs | #3612

This is a fun class teaching flexibility, strength and coordination. Using the trampoline, tumbling bars and balance beam, students will learn correct body positions and safety in rolling and flipping as well as conditioning for cardio using fun relays and games. Three sessions on Monday & Wednesday. You can sign up for one day a week or two days a week.

Acrobatics | Ages 6-12 yrs | #3612

Acrobatics is the ancient art of jumping, tumbling and balancing. This class will teach basic moves that can be made into small routines using groups. Students will learn handstands and tumbling as well as strength moves. Three sessions on Monday & Wednesday. You can sign up for one day a week or two days a week.

Beginning Co-ed Gymnastics | Ages 6-12 yrs | #3612

This class introduces kids to gymnastic positions, rolls, body control, balance & strength. All classes do warm ups. Kids will use bars, beams, trampolines and apparatus in the gym. Super class for fun and fitness. Three sessions on Wednesday & Friday. You can sign up for one day a week or two days a week. Correction: Session 1 of this activity will take place 1/8-2/28. The location will be the Redmond Gymnastics Academy in Redmond. 

 

Beginner and Advanced Kendo Fencing for Youth & Adult | Ages 12 yrs & UP | #8678

Learn the fun and challenging martial art of Kendo (Japanese fencing). The Redmond Kendo club focuses on teaching traditional Kendo that will promote a strong mind and body for youth and adults in a safe environment. Redmond Kendo club is instructed by Ryan Atagi fifth degree black belt Kendo, second degree black belt Iaido. Price includes a bamboo sword. Advanced program price is discounted for swords already purchased. Each session is 3 months in length. There has been a day and date change as follows:

Diane's Horseback Riding | Ages 7-18 yrs | Beginning | #3607

In this fun intro class, Diane starts with the basics as you learn how to maintain and properly care for a horse, as well as how to cinch, saddle and prepare to safely ride a horse. Dress for the weather, as we are outside. Horses and tack provided. There is a date change for Diane's Horsback Riding beginning and intermediate class. It will take place on Saturdays, 5/9-5/27.

Once you’ve learned the basics, it’s time to take things a step further with more advanced maneuvers and learning how to better communicate with the horse. Enjoy the art of learning to ride and care for a horse at Diane’s Riding Place. Horses and tack provided. There is a date change for Diane's Horsback Riding beginning and intermediate class. It will take place on Saturdays, 5/9-5/27. Registration deadline is 48 hours before the start of class.

Cage Kids | Ages 9-11 yrs | #3516

Our instructors instill confidence and skill into every kid. A typical class includes bully prevention, basic Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, body awareness, fitness, gymnastics and above all a fun, high energy good time. This class encompasses all aspects of fitness including muscle development and discipline. We will have 5 sessions on Tuesday & Thursday.

Boxing | Ages 9 & UP | #3516

The Dojo boxing program accommodates adults & children, men & women of all levels and ages. We teach the basic fundamentals of boxing, while providing a great workout. We focus on improving body composition, hand-eye coordination, cardiovascular health and more. We will have 5 sessions on Monday & Wednesday.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu | Ages 12 & UP | #8516

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a martial art sport that focuses on grappling. The principle is that no matter your size, you can successfully defend yourself using leverage and proper technique, applying submissions via joint looks and choke holds. This will improve physical fitness, core strength, stability and flexibility. A Gi is required, bring your own or purchase one from Dojo. We will have 5 sessions on Tuesday & Thursday.

Camps, Sports and Leagues

 

Open Drop-in Basketball | Age 14 & UP | Elton Gregory Middle School

This is a great time to come down and get in shape and to fine tune your skills for City League basketball. Have fund with your friends or make some new friends while shooting hoops. NO FOOD, DRINKS OR TOBACCO ALLOWED IN THE GYM. Water bottle only. Open gym is subject to school closures. Monday & Wednesday, 8:00-10:00 pm beginning October 2nd.

Cost is $3.00 per visit. 

2nd & 3rd Grades Instructional Leagues

Parents can expect their soccer players to learn the basics of dribbling, passing and shooting in a personalized, interactive and fun environment. The Instructional Leagues play a 6-week game season. Instructional League games take place at the High Desert Sports Complex on Saturdays. Practice times and locations will depend on the volunteer coach, with twice a week mandatory team practices. RAPRD will provide player jerseys. Parents are responsible for providing shorts, shin guards, socks and a size-4 soccer ball. Registration deadline is Tuesday, February 11th.

4th & 5th Grades Developmental Leagues

The developmental leagues reinforce and build upon soccer fundamentals. Practices are held twice a week with times and locations dependant on the volunteer coach. The developmental leagues play a 6-week game season. Games will be held at the High Desert Sports Complex on Saturdays. RAPRD will provide player jerseys. Parents are responsible for providing shorts, shin guards, socks and a size-4 soccer ball. Registration deadline is Tueadsy, February 11th.​

Youth Lacrosse League | Grades 1st-8th

RAPRD continues a partnership with the Ravens Youth Lacrosse and the Bend Park and Recreation District to offer youth Lacrosse in Central Oregon. This program emphasizes development, engagement, sportsmanship, teamwork and fun. Teams will be created from the pool of registered participants. Practice are held in Redmond and games will be played in Bend. Practice times and locations will depend on the volunteer coach. Volunteer coaches are utilized and must participate in the Coaches' Clinic in Bend. Registration deadline is Monday, February 24th.

Sports and Leagues

Men's City League Basketball | 18 & UP | Obsidian Middle School

Register your team for this exciting competitive basketball league. This is the time to have fun and let your hoop skills shine. League is on Monday and Wednesday nights. The season will end with a single elimination tournament. Referees and score keepers are provided for this league. Signed rosters must be submitted with payment by the Registration deadline is Friday, December 20th. NO FOOD, DRINKS OR TOBACCO ALLOWED IN THE GYM

RAPRD Adult Softball Leagues | Age 18 & UP | High Desert Sports Complex

Sign your team up now to join a softball league. The season runs from May through mid-August and all games will be played at the High Desert Sports Complex. Co-ed Recreational Leagues and Co-ed ASA Competitive Leagues will have a single elimination playoff. ASA Competitive Leagues will be provided with umpires. Co-ed recreational league game days are determined by the night that you register for. Registration deadline is Friday, April 17th. See the Winter/Spring Activity Guide, page 10 for details.

Coach's Clinic

New Coaches & Coaches Clinic

Welcome Coaches! We are excited to have you join our team and look forward to a great season. All of our coaches must complete concussion training and fill out a coaches volunteer/background check form prior to the registration deadline. You can pick up this form at the Cascade Swim Center or Activity Center reception desk. All coaches that have approved volunteer/background checks and chosen by the youth sports coordinator will be notified of the date of the coaches clinic, which is mandatory attendance. Team rosters and supplies will be provided. Coaches will choose their practice times at the coaches clinic.
